The Wedding Day Hair and Makeup Timeline: How to Ensure a Stress-Free Glam Experience

Some brides will have a color-coded spreadsheet for your venue, your florist, and your seating chart. But the one part of the day that often feels the most “up in the air” is the wedding morning. I’ve seen it a hundred times: a bride thinks she has plenty of time, and suddenly, the photographer is at the door, the veil isn’t in, and someone is still looking for their shoes. At The Bridal Beauty Society, we’ve mastered the “Art of the Morning.” Here is exactly how we recommend structure your timeline so you can actually enjoy that glass of champagne.
- The “Beauty Math”
Generally, we suggest allotting 45–60 minutes per person for hair or makeup. For the bride, we always set aside a full 90 minutes. This isn’t just for the application; it’s for those little adjustments that make everything perfect. If you have a party of six, we usually bring a second artist to keep the start time reasonable.
- The Order of Operations
A common question is: “Should I go first or last?” The answer is: Neither. We love to put the bride right in the middle or toward the end of the lineup (but never the very last person). This ensures your hair and makeup are the freshest for photos, but avoids the stress of still being in the chair when the photographer wants to start detail shots.
- The 30-Minute Grace Period
Always, always build in a 30-minute “buffer.” This is your time to breathe, eat a snack, and put on
your jewelry. If we finish early, great, more time for candid photos! If things run a tiny bit behind
(like a bridesmaid losing her earring), you’ve already accounted for it.
